Why price lists are so hard to compare — size-based, package, and per-spot pricing

Stuffed animal repair and cleaning price lists are built in fundamentally different ways, which makes them hard to compare directly. Our survey found three main systems.

First, size-based pricing: the fee depends on your plush's height, common among specialists and mail-in cleaners. Second, package pricing: a flat fee for a set number of items, common among large mail-in cleaning services. Third, per-spot pricing: a fee per tear or repair site, common at alteration shops and independent studios, where a base fee plus a condition-based estimate is typical.

Note your plush's size and the number of spots to fix before reading any price list, and you can roughly predict the quote under any system. Our comparison table translates all three systems into comparable estimates.
